The second year of the three-year project “Taste of Europe – When excellence and quality meet the world” has just ended. The project is co-funded by the European Community and is part of the wider initiative “Enjoy! It’s from Europe”. Its aim is to communicate and promote the excellence and quality of European agro-food products in the USA and Canada, especially those from the Italian region of Emilia Romagna.
The five Consortia promoting the project - Consorzio di Tutela del Lambrusco di Modena, Consorzio Vini di Romagna, Consorzio Vini Reggiani, Consorzio dell’Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena and Consorzio del Prosciutto di Modena DOP - have taken part in numerous activities, all aimed at publicising their products overseas.
Between the end of June and the beginning of July, the Prosciutto di Modena PDO Consortium, the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco di Modena, the Consortium of Reggiani Wines and the Consortium of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena participated in the 66th edition of Summer Fancy Food, the principal food&beverage event in North America held at the Javits Center in New York.
In autumn, all the Consortia were present at the Simply Italian Great Wines U.S. Tour 2018: one day in New York and one in Las Vegas dedicated to Italian wine excellence, presented to the American public through seminars, workshops and "walk-around tastings".
The various Lambrusco DOC wines and those with the Romagna denomination were protagonists at the Lambrusco&Romagna Sangiovese Day held on 22 November in Montreal. The event included both informative meetings for sector experts and promotional events targeting the final consumer, who was able to taste these wines together with tigella and piadina, typical bread products of the Emilia Romagna region.
Lastly, the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco di Modena, the Reggiani Wines Consortium, the Romagna Wines Consortium and the Consortium of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena participated in the four stops of the Tre Bicchieri USA Tour 2019, held in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles between the end of February and early March. The Tour was organised by Gambero Rosso, which has been engaged in the promotion of Italian excellence in the world for over thirty years. This event allowed the consortia to let a select audience of traders, journalists and fans discover and taste their excellencies, encouraging possible commercial developments in the best way possible.
